Texas A&M makes dubious history for offensive ineptitude in loss at South Carolina

It has been a rough year for Mike Elko and the Texas A&M Aggies.

On Saturday afternoon, the Aggies went to South Carolina and left with a disappointing 17-9 loss. South Carolina has been hot lately, but if Marcel Reed and the A&M offense had been able to finish drives, the Gamecocks were asking to be upset.

How inept was the A&M offense? Well, it made some dubious history. Per Luke Evangelist on X, the Aggies are the first team in college football history to have 450 or more yards on offense, not commit a turnover and still score 0 touchdowns:

It has been a rough couple of months for Reed and Elko as they struggle to look at all like the team that made the College Football Playoff last year.

Reed has regressed in a big way from last year’s version of himself. The Aggies moved the ball well on Saturday and Reed made some good throws, but he couldn’t make the throws to finish off drives.

Texas A&M fell to 4-5 overall with the loss at South Carolina. The Aggies finish the year with games against Tennessee, Oklahoma and Texas, so bowl eligibility looks like it will be an uphill climb from here.
