Texas A&M QB Marcel Reed on Texas: ‘I’ve got something for them’

It’s safe to say which game Marcel Reed is looking forward to the most in 2026. The Texas A&M quarterback has plenty to say about the rival program in Austin.
Reed is the subject of a new profile by USA TODAY’s Blake Toppmeyer. When Texas was brought up, the Aggie quarterback had plenty to say about his disgust for the Longhorns.
โI hate the color orange,โ Reed said, per Toppmeyer. โThe colors just look so ugly. Everywhere you go (in Austin), you see that color orange. Burnt orange? Who likes burnt orange? Texas, itโs the rival, bro. You gotta hate them.โ
As one would expect, Reed isn’t happy about A&M being 0-2 against Texas since the rivalry renewed when the Longhorns joined the SEC in 2024.
โWe donโt like Texas. I donโt like Texas,โ Reed told Toppmeyer. โIt sucks that weโve lost to them twice. But, theyโre coming here this year, so theyโre gonna have to pay. Iโve got something for them, for sure.โ
As SEC foes, both meetings have gone to the Longhorns by double digits. In 2024, Texas defeated A&M 17-7 in College Station. Last year, the Longhorns won 27-17 in Austin.
Even though the game is just under 3 months away (Nov. 27), Reed isn’t shying away from his plans to snap the skid in the rivalry. We’ll see if the Aggies have better fortunes this year on Black Friday.
