Texas A&M is bringing back a very familiar name to the Aggies football community to be its new defensive line coach.

The program is set to hire Elijah Robinson for the post, according to a CBS Sports report on Sunday night. The reported hire of Robinson would be a trip back in time for the veteran coach, who was an assistant in College Station from 2018-23, right before Mike Elko took over as head coach in 2024.

But since Elko was an assistant at Texas A&M from 2018-21, this hire would also qualify as Elko and Robinson reuniting, just with different circumstances now. Instead of being fellow assistant coaches, it would be Robinson working under Elko in 2026.

Robinson was the defensive coordinator at Syracuse the past 2 seasons, but it looks as though he’s coming back to the SEC and back to College Station to join a program that will be coming off a trip to the College Football Playoff in 2025.

During his previous stint at Texas A&M, Robinson served in many roles for the Aggies. He was the defensive line coach, so this would be his 2nd time serving in the same role at the same school.

Robinson was also a co-defensive coordinator and even served as interim head coach during his final year in 2023 after Texas A&M fired Jimbo Fisher.

Fast-forward to the 2026 season, when Robinson would be replacing Sean Spencer, who was hired as the new defensive line coach at Virginia Tech.
