Watkins, who is related to former Clemson and NFL wide receiver Sammy Watkins, originally committed to the Aggies as a freshman in December of 2021 and he has remained so up until now.

Watkins is listed as a 5-star prospect in the 247Sports Composite and has received offers from the likes of Florida, Central Michigan, Alabama and Akron as well.
As Texas A&M is surrounded by uncertainty after failing to meet the expectations in 2022, it’s not surprising to see prospects like Watkins re-open their recruitment and it is easy to get the sense this is just the tip of the iceberg for what may take place for the Aggies in the recruiting game as they stand at 3-7 overall with just 1 win in conference play as the season winds down.
Regardless of where Watkins ends up, he’s certainly on the trajectory to become an impact playmaker in a short period of time and clearly does not lack interest from some of the most heralded programs in the nation.
