Texas A&M unveils American flag-themed helmet, gloves for Red, White, and Blue Game

Friday marks the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks. On Saturday, Texas A&M will be doing its part to honor the memory of those lost on that day.
The Aggies are set to take on Arizona State at Kyle Field for the Red, White, and Blue Game, their third overall and the first since the 20th anniversary of 9/11 in 2021. It’s only the second meeting between the two programs; the Aggies won the previous meeting, 38-17, in a game played in Houston in 2015.
Fans have already received a sneak peek of Saturday’s patriotic field design. On Thursday, Texas A&M released a video of the Aggies’ helmets, which will feature the iconic university logo in red, white, and blue. Aggies players will also be wearing red, white, and blue gloves:
The Aggies’ first Red, White, and Blue Game was against Oklahoma State and was held on September 22, 2001, eleven days after the attacks. Five students spearheaded an effort to sell over 70,000 T-shirts to raise over $235,000 for New York’s first and police benevolence funds. The game was also a red, white, and blue out.
Twenty years later, the Red, White, and Blue Game returned. This time, 75,000 T-shirts were sold to benefit Task Force 1, a FEMA-certified search and rescue group, and the George H.W. Bush Points of Light Foundation.
