Texas A&M just suffered a stunning loss to Appalachian State in College Station in Week 2. There’s no rest for the Aggies, though, as No. 13 Miami comes to Kyle Field on Saturday night.

The game between the Aggies and Hurricanes is set to kick off at 9 p.m. Eastern time and can be seen on ESPN.

Texas A&M vs. Miami preview

When it comes to the Aggies, it all comes down to offensive struggles. Texas A&M lost 17-14 to the Mountaineers last weekend, but the offense only accounted for 7 of those points. If not for Devon Achane’s impressive kickoff return touchdown, things could have been even worse.

QB Haynes King is supposed to be one of the fastest guys on the Aggies’ roster and is supposed to be a major threat with his legs. However, he’s only run the ball 14 times for 52 yards through 2 games (good for a 3.7 yards-per-carry average).

If he’s not going to threaten opposing defenses on the ground, it might be time for Jimbo Fisher and the Aggies to see if Max Johnson is the better option at quarterback.

The Aggies entered the 2022 season as a team expected to compete for a spot in the College Football Playoff. Heck, ESPN’s Desmond Howard picked Texas A&M to win it all!

But, this offense is far from Playoff quality as currently constructed. Ainias Smith, Evan Stewart and Yulkeith Brown are a formidable trio of receivers, but they need a quarterback who can consistently get the ball in their hands.

Meanwhile, Miami enters this game with a chance to prove it belongs in the College Football Playoff discussion. The Hurricanes have a talented QB in Tyler Van Dyke.

However, they’ll be without top receiver Xavier Restrepo in this game, as he’s dealing with an injury. Restrepo has 11 catches for 172 yards and 1 touchdown through 2 games.

This could quickly turn into a defensive showdown in College Station. Who has the edge? We should find out pretty quickly on Saturday night!

Texas A&M vs. Miami prediction

We know the Aggies’ defense is great. But, the offense has been a major disappointment. If Jimbo Fisher doesn’t make some major changes on Saturday night, things could get ugly against the best defense the Aggies have faced yet this season.

Miami comes in to Kyle Field and escapes with a narrow win, adding an impressive victory in a true road game over a ranked foe to its Playoff resume.

Prediction: Miami 23, Texas A&M 17
