Texas announces schedule updates for multiple games, including 2027 vs. Michigan

The Texas vs. Michigan game next year officially has a new date.
The Longhorns announced some schedule updates for 2027 and ’28 on Thursday. The headlining information is that Texas will host Michigan on Sept. 4.

The game was originally scheduled for Sept. 11, 2027. Earlier this week, however, it was revealed that Michigan has now scheduled Eastern Michigan for Sept. 11, 2027. The status of the Texas-Michigan game was briefly in question, but any concerns have been put to rest.
Texas will open the 2027 season on Aug. 28 against New Mexico State. Following the Michigan game on Sept. 4, Texas will host UTEP on Sept. 11. The Longhorns also announced that they will host Louisiana Tech on Aug. 26, 2028.
Michigan’s trip to Austin is part two of a home-and-home. In 2024, Texas defeated the Wolverines 31-12 in Ann Arbor. The teams also faced off last year in the Citrus Bowl, a 41-27 Texas victory. Texas is 3-0 all-time against Michigan, winning the first meeting 38-37 in the 2005 Rose Bowl.
As for 2026, Texas opens the season against Texas State on Sept. 5. The Longhorns then host Big Ten power Ohio State in Week 2.
