Texas football added a commitment from Class of 2027 defensive lineman Kasi Currie on Thursday, one of the top defensive linemen in the 2027 cycle. Currie chose the Longhorns over the likes of power programs such as Georgia, Oregon and Ohio State, to name a few.

Currie hails from Sierra Canyon high school in Chatsworth, California and stands at an impressive 6-foot-5, 310 pounds. He draws snaps on both sides of the ball, playing right tackle on offense. As a junior, according to 247Sports, Currie totaled 15 tackles with 4 tackles for loss and an interception this past season.

Currie is the 2nd highest-rated prospect to commit to Texas this cycle, only below 5-star wide receiver Easton Royal. He’s the 3rd defensive line addition, joining 4-star edge rusher Derwin Fields and 4-star edge Cameron Hall. As it currently stands, Texas is ranked No. 26 in 247Sports’ team rankings for the 2027 cycle.

According to 247Sports, Currie is considered to be the No. 37 overall prospect in the country, as well as the No. 2 defensive lineman and No. 5 player out of the Golden State.
