Texas lands commitment from in-state linebacker recruit

Texas has tabbed a key in-state linebacker from the class of 2027, as 3-star prospect Cade Haug announced on social media that he’s committing to the Longhorns.
Haug is proud to be staying in the Lone Star State for the start of his college career.
โTexas is the 1% of the 1% and Iโm blessed to have an opportunity to go play for the best players and coaches in the nation,โ Haug said via Inside Texas.

The 6-foot-1, 220-pound Haug also had offers from programs such as Kansas State, Nebraska, Pitt and SMU. Haug is regarded by the 247Sports Composite as the nation’s No. 36 linebacker and the No. 63 recruit from Texas.
Haug amassed108 tackles, 19 tackles for loss, and three sacks in 2025 according to MaxPreps. Haug also had a pair of rushing touchdowns for Kingwood.
Texas now has five commits for the class of 2027. The other four are New Orleans (La.) Brother Martin wide receiverย Easton Royal, Mansfield (Texas) Summit edgeย Cameron Hall, Ramsey (N.J.) Don Bosco Prep tight endย JT Geraci, and Manvel (Texas) safetyย Greedy James.
Texas went 10-3 this season, capped off with a 41-27 victory vs. Michigan in the Citrus Bowl. Texas kicks off the 2026 season with a home game vs. Texas State on Sept. 5.
