We already knew that Texas‘ comeback to rally for a 45-38 overtime victory vs. Mississippi State was impressive. However, this stat puts the win into even more rarified air.

According to CBS Sports’ research team, teams entering action today had lost 429 games in a row when down by 17+ points with 10 minutes to go in the fourth quarter. Yet, Texas miraculously managed to pull off the feat against the host Bulldogs thanks to 24 unanswered points in the fourth quarter and overtime.

What makes the win even more impressive is that Texas quarterback Arch Manning exited on the first play of overtime after he seemed to hit his head on the turf. Backup quarterback Matthew Caldwell connected with Emmett Mosley for the game-winning 10-yard touchdown.

The game was capped off with sack from Ethan Burke that jarred the ball out from Mississippi State quarterback Blake Shapen and was recovered by Alex January.

This is the second straight overtime road victory for Texas. The Longhorns took down Kentucky 16-13 last weekend on a 45-yard field goal from Mason Shipley.

Texas now has a pair of 3-game winning streaks this season. The Longhorns host No. 10 Vanderbilt next Saturday in a huge matchup. Kickoff is set for 12 p.m. ET.
