Texas quarterback Arch Manning underwent foot surgery this week, per a team spokesperson.

The foot surgery is considered “minor” and was done as a “preventative measure,” according to the program. Texas expects Manning to be “limited” for a period of time but anticipates him being ready for spring football.

Foot injuries can be tricky, but this isn’t expected to be an issue that prevents Manning from having a relatively normal offseason. The Longhorns are expected to begin spring practice sometime in mid-March, although a date has not yet been announced.

If healthy, Manning will begin next season as a Heisman Trophy candidate. He’s already the leader on prediction markets such as Kalshi for the 2026 Heisman, edging out players like Notre Dame quarterback CJ Carr and Ohio State wide receiver Jeremiah Smith.

Manning finished the 2025 season with 3,163 yards, 26 touchdowns and 7 interceptions. He had 14 touchdowns and just 2 picks over the final 6 games of the 2025 campaign, which was his first as a starter.

Expectations will be high for Texas next season. The Longhorns have been aggressive in adding talent via the transfer portal, most notably former Auburn wide receiver Cam Coleman. Manning and Coleman are expected to be among the nation’s best QB-WR duos in the country next fall.
