Brendan Sorsby is set to play college football in 2026. A district court judge in Lubbock County Texas has granted Sorsby a temporary injunction against the NCAA.
โThis court finds that applicant has demonstrated that he will suffer a probable, imminent, and irreparable injury if this court does not issue this temporary injunction because he will be unable to participate as a member of Texas Tech Universityโs 2026 football team,โ the injunction reads.
Sorsby first went through the NCAA process seeking reinstatement after being banned for gambling. In a recent appeal, Texas Tech recommended a 2-game suspension.
Monday’s injunction states that Sorsby will serve a 2-game suspension. Otherwise, the NCAA cannot stop Sorsby from โpracticing, playing or otherwise participating on Texas Techโs football team for the 2026 season.โ

Sorsby was found to have gambled on Indiana while he was a quarterback with the Hoosiers. He is reported to have placed at least 40 bets on the Hoosiers. His gambling continued after his transfer from Cincinnati to Texas Tech. Sorsby has reportedly wagered over $90,000 over the past 4 years.
In April, Sorsby spent time in a gambling rehabilitation center.
