Tim Tebow was granted the rights to co-own an upstart professional hockey team alongside Hodges Management Group CEO David Hodges.
The team, which will be based in Lake Tahoe, will play as the 29th team in the ECHL, a mid-level hockey league with affiliations to the NHL. The stadium is located in Stateline, Nevada and colors, name and logos have yet to be decided.
According to a release from the ECHL, the team is expected to start play in 2024-25.

Tebow released the following statement in the release:
โI love that sports can bring people together from all over to enjoy camaraderie, competition, and community impact,โ Tebow said. โIโm so grateful for the opportunity to be part of a group bringing hockey to the Tahoe area for fans and families to create memories for years to come.โ
Obviously, the team does not currently have an affiliation to the NHL, though 29 of the 32 NHL teams have affiliates in the ECHL. The 3 teams which do not have ECHL affiliates are the St. Louis Blues, Arizona Coyotes and Winnipeg Jets.
This is not Tebow’s first experience with the ECHL. He is also a minority partner in the ECHLโs Jacksonville Icemen and Savannah Ghost Pirates.
