Tommy White leaves LSU’s season opener in first inning due to injury

Tommy White has already left an impact in LSU’s season opener. Unfortunately, he departed the game shortly after due to an injury.
In the bottom of the first inning, White brought home the first run of the season for the Tigers with an RBI single. That hit brought home Paxton Kling to make it 1-0 against Western Michigan.
Unfortunately, White was injured and removed from the game while running the bases. Per Leah Vann with The Advocate, White appeared to sustain an injury to his arm and jammed it while sliding back into first base during a pick-off attempt. The TV and radio broadcasts have offered varying reports of an injury to the wrist/hand or to the shoulder.

Better known as “Tommy Tanks,” White joined LSU after a historic freshman season at NC State. He set freshman home run records with 27 on the year while slashing .362/.425/.757 for the Wolfpack.
Hopefully, his injury proves to be a minor one.
