Top 100 prospect Ja’Bios Smith recently revealed the top 10 schools remaining in his recruitment, and it’s safe to say that he has a taste for the Southeastern Conference.
Of the 10 teams included, 7 hail from the SEC. The list includes South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, Auburn, Texas A&M, Tennessee and Florida, with Georgia Tech, Florida State and Michigan rounding out the group from other leagues.
Smith is currently rated as a 4-star linebacker in the Class of 2027 by 247 Sports, and he also held offers from Mississippi State and Vanderbilt among others.
The Swainsboro, Georgia product has a unique build for a linebacker at 6-foot-3, and if he can add quality weight to his 195 lb. frame, Smith figures to be a dangerous presence in the conference. He racked up 88 total tackles, 5 tackles for loss, 3 forced fumbles, a sack and a pass breakup as just a sophomore in 2024, and he’s also split time as a running back throughout his career.
Swainsboro currently sits at 6-0 on the season, with Smith’s defense only having allowed one opponent to score more than 14 points in a game. Notably, Michigan is the only program outside of the southeastern region featured in the final 10.
