The Georgia Bulldogs are entering their much-needed bye week coming off a brutal first loss of the campaign against the Auburn Tigers this past weekend, their first loss to an unranked opponent in over 7 years.

Despite his team’s loss on the field, head coach Kirby Smart knows better than anybody that the show doesn’t stop, and that holds especially true on the recruiting trail where his staff is expected to be extremely busy during the off week.

Those efforts already seem to be paying off, as top-ranked JUCO defensive lineman Christian Mays officially flipped his commitment from Tennessee to the Dawgs Monday morning with an announcement on his personal X account.

A Colorado native, Mays currently plays for JUCO powerhouse Northeast Mississippi Community College, where he has blossomed into the No. 1 defensive lineman in the 2027 cycle.

In his 8 games so far this season, the 6’4 “, 285-pound nose tackle has racked up 17 total tackles and 1 sack. His blend of size and athleticism has made him highly sought after by some of the nation’s top programs.

Mays had been committed to the Vols since June 6th, but it looks like Smart and the rest of the staff at Georgia have convinced him that Athens is the best spot for him once he graduates from the NEMCC this December.
