A South Carolina native and the top-ranked JUCO running back who previously committed to Tennessee, has announced that he will be recommitting soon.

Tiyon Evans, of Hartsville, South Carolina, is currently at Hutchinson Community College in Kansas and is expected to graduate in December. He was one of the many commitments Tennessee landed in the spring as he committed on April 30, but has since decommitted from the Vols.

While the Gamecocks are in the mix, Missouri has also offered Evans, who has 11 known offers, according to 247Sports. He is listed at 5-foot-10 and a half and 215 pounds.

When he committed to Tennessee Evans told Phil Kornblut of SportsTalkSC that he initially took South Carolina out of the picture.

“Me and my family did a lot of research and stuff,” Evans said. “Honestly my mom always wanted me out of South Carolina. We’ve been through so much stuff in South Carolina. My mom been wanting me to leave, and I felt if there was a school other than South Carolina, it was Tennessee.”

Evans was one of the state’s top backs in 2018 and played in the North-South Game, where he earned offensive MVP honors for the South after rushing for 142 yards and catching one pass for 53 yards. Last season at Hutchinson, he rushed for 538 yards and 9 touchdowns.
