Trevor Lawrence has the unique position of being coached by two of the biggest names in college coaching, Clemson’s Dabo Swinney and now Urban Meyer with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft is now transitioning to the NFL, and has said in an interview on the NFL Network that it’s different having a job and not dealing with classes.
“Personalities are a little bit different, but just as far as kind of the way they do things, thereโs a certain expectation that everyone knows, itโs really clear, and I think the best coaches do that,” he said. “You know what they expect and you know what youโre expected to do when you come to work. Coach Meyer is great at laying the groundwork and kind of laying it out for us and just telling us what he expects from us and everyoneโs on the same page. I think thatโs the biggest thing for a leader in general, but especially a coach is communication. We all know whatโs expected of us, so thereโs no excuse not to get our job done. I think heโs great at that, but he also knows how to take care of us and he listens to his players. I can already see that, only being here already weeks I can already see that heโs done that so itโs been really good.”
A former newspaper veteran, Keith Farner is a news manager for Saturday Down South.
