Trinidad Chambliss and Ole Miss got off to a slow start on Saturday night at Texas, as the Rebels were down 24-3 at the half. While they were able to rally to tie the game, the Rebels eventually lost the game, 34-27.

After the game, Chambliss took the blame for the team’s slow start, saying it starts with him.

“Having three points in the first half is unacceptable, and I take full responsibility for that. There’s no excuse for that,” Chambliss told reporters. “I was careless with the football, making bad decisions. I’ve got to watch the tape. I’ve got to evaluate how I’m going about the weeks and preparing for a game and studying film and doing all those things to make sure that I’m as prepared as I can be.”

Chambliss had arguably his worst game since he became the starter, finishing 25-of-52 for 250 yards, 2 touchdowns, and 3 interceptions. A lot of the credit for the Longhorns has to go to defensive coordinator Will Muschamp, who had a terrific game-plan. Especially early in the game, rarely were receivers open.

With the loss, the Rebels fell to 5-2 on the year and are now in a situation where they probably have to run the table if they are going to get back to the College Football Playoff.

Ole Miss will be back in action in Week 9, when the Rebels host Auburn.
