One of the biggest announcements in college football now has a date. Alabama QB Tua Tagovailoa’s decision about leaving for the NFL, or returning to Tuscaloosa for the 2020 season, will come Monday, according to Matt Zenitz.
As Tagovailoa recovers from a dislocated hip and subsequent surgery, he graduated from a scooter to a crutch as the Crimson Tide played in Orlando for the Citrus Bowl against Michigan.
After the win over Michigan, coach Nick Saban addressed Tagovailoaโs future at his postgame press conference.
โI think thatโs a decision he and his family need to make, and Iโm sure when they make it, theyโll let everyone know,โ Saban said.
At a press conference in December, Tagovailoa, who before the injury was projected to be the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft, admitted what enters into his decision-making process.
Tagovailoa said if he feels heโll still be a Top 10 or 15 pick, it might be too tempting to stay in college.
โI think thatโd be tough to pass up,โ he said. โBut I think thereโs a lot more to it than that in some aspects. … This is probably going to be the biggest decision of my life. This is where I seek advice from what I believe and this is where I seek advice from my parents. But truly at the end of the day, the decision comes down to me, whether I feel like itโs right for me to stay or whether itโs right for me to go.
โItโs just a really, really big decision, and everybody just wants to know. Thatโs what makes it even bigger, Iโd say.โ
