FOX announced on Monday that it will carry the highly anticipated Week 1 showdown between Texas and Ohio State.

Monday’s announcement did not include a kickoff time, though FOX typically features marquee matchups at noon ET, branded its Big Noon Kickoff showcase game. It’s an Ohio State home game and falls under the Big Ten media rights agreement.

Ohio State ended Texas’s 2024 campaign for the national championship. The Buckeyes defeated former QB Quinn Ewers and the Longhorns 28-14 in the College Football Playoff Semifinal at the Cotton Bowl on Jan. 10. OSU went on to beat Notre Dame 34-23 in the CFP National Championship Game to win the national title.

The Week 1 matchup will have a different feel as both Ewers and Ohio State QB Will Howard are currently in the NFL. Even with new starting quarterbacks, both Ohio State and Texas are expected to be highly ranked in the 2025 preseason polls.

The Aug. 30 meeting in Columbus is being suggested for Lee Corso’s final appearance on College GameDay. Corso has chosen Ohio State’s Brutus more than any other mascot in his headgear picks.
