Ole Miss had a big night on the recruiting trail Friday. Pete Golding‘s staff landed verbal commitments from a pair of 2027 defensive back prospects.
Taelyn Mayo was the first to announce his commitment to Ole Miss via Hayes Fawcett of Rivals. Out of Lewisville (Texas) High School, Mayo is listed at 6-4, 185 pounds. On the 247Sports Composite, Mayo is rated 4-stars, the No. 32 cornerback, No. 42 player in the Lone Star State and No. 279 prospect overall in the Class of 2027.
Mayo has collected scholarship offers from 28 programs in his recruitment. He told Fawcett that he chose the Rebels over LSU and Texas A&M.
Not long after Mayo’s commitment, Mason Moore joined the party. Out of Baton Rouge (Louisiana) Central, Moore is listed as measuring 5-10 and 165 pounds. Moore is rated 3-stars by the Rivals Industry Ranking. He does not have a 247Sports rating. Miami, Oregon and Texas A&M had also shown interest in Moore.
