Ty Simpson is putting together a potentially-special season and has become a legitimate Heisman Trophy candidate. He continued his incredible play on Saturday, throwing for 340 yards and two touchdowns in the Alabama‘s 30-14 victory against Vanderbilt.

While his strong play is a huge reason why the team has righted the ship since losing to Florida State, Simpson made sure after the game to give the praise right back to his teammates.

“It’s always good to get a win,” Simpson said. “The guys played great man. Credit to the defense. They had a chip on their shoulder all week. They shut them out in the second half. That’s what I’m talking about. I mean, Jam running for 136 tonight. It’s so good to have him back. The guys up front played their tails off. Wideouts played great and the tight ends made lanes in the run game and the pass game. Just all around good football.”

On the season, Simpson has now throw for 1,478 yards, 13 touchdowns and only one interception.

As Simpson said, the Crimson Tide have a tough game looming next weekend as they travel to Columbia to take on the undefeated Missouri Tigers. Kickoff for that game is at 12 p.m. ET and that game will be on ABC.
