Alabama’s disappointing 38-3 defeat at the hands of Indiana in the Rose Bowl on Thursday brought the Crimson Tide’s once-promising 2025 campaign to a brutal end.

Following the loss, those in Tuscaloosa have begun to turn their attention towards what the 2026 roster will look like, and the chief question regarding that is whether or not quarterback Ty Simpson will return for another season.

The veteran signal-caller wrapped up his redshirt-junior campaign with Alabama, and he still has one more year of eligibility remaining should he choose to use it. However, some see Simpson as a touted NFL Draft prospect who could go in the early rounds depending on how he tests.

Of course, Simpson could also return to Alabama for one more season, likely in hopes of making a national-title push within a familiar offensive scheme.

With plenty of possibilities flying around, On3Sports’ Pete Nakos spoke with Simpson’s agent Peter Webb, and the latter provided an unrevealing update on Simpson’s decision-making process.

“No decisions have been made about Ty declaring for the draft at this point and he is still evaluating everything with his family and close advisors,” Webb told Nakos.

Thus, it appears that the Crimson Tide faithful will have to practice patience when it comes to whether or not Simpson will be back under center next fall.

After biding his time for 3 years behind the likes of Bryce Young and Jalen Milroe, Simpson exploded onto the scene with 3,567 passing yards and 30 total touchdowns while completing 63.9% of his passes in 2025.
