Tyler Baron announced that he would be leaving Knoxville and entering the transfer portal last Friday.

This is the 2nd time that Baron – a standout Tennessee pass rusher – has entered the transfer portal. In 2022 Baron decided that he would enter the portal and there was slight buzz that he would end up at Kentucky, but the move never came to fruition and Baron ended up returning to Knoxville.

On Thursday, On3 Sports reported that several major programs have emerged as teams to watch out for regarding Baron’s commitment. Texas, Georgia, Alabama and Ole Miss are the 4 big names to watch out for.

Especially that last one. According to a report from On3, both Baron and fellow Tennessee portal entree Tamarion McDonald are on an official visit to Oxford Thursday.

Seems we may know why Lane Kiffin was in Knoxville this past week now.

Baron is an SEC veteran and has been at Tennessee since 2020. Across those 4 season Baron has totaled 101 tackles, 27.5 tackles for loss, 13.5 sacks, 1 forced fumble, 3 pass deflections and a fumble recovery for a touchdown.

And this past season was his best in college football. Baron finishes the year with 28 total tackles, including 10.5 for loss with 6 sacks.
