It’s not easy taking over for a coach like Scott Frost, who led the UCF Knights to an undefeated record in 2017 before leaving for Nebraska.

However, former Mizzou OC Josh Heupel has done a great job in Year 1, and the Knights are once again unbeaten heading into the Fiesta Bowl against LSU.

On Friday, the Knights announced that they had extended Heupel’s contract until January of 2024 — so, through the 2023 season, basically:

“I am truly honored to have the opportunity to lead this group of young men and represent this great university,” Heupel said. “My family and I have found an amazing community to call home. I am looking forward to the future of this program. I can’t thank Danny White and Dale Whittaker enough for their support and belief in what we’re doing.”

It’ll be interesting to see what kind of talent Heupel can bring to Orlando and whether he can continue this high level of success.

For now though, everything is going well at UCF.
