Georgia freshman defensive lineman Julian Rochester was charged with a felony last spring for discharging and possessing a weapon on campus. The weapon, however, was a BB gun.
People wondering what Rochester’s status entering the 2016 season was won’t have to wonder any longer, as when asked about his situation, first-year head coach Kirby Smart addressed where exactly Rochester stands during Monday’s press conference.
“Why wouldn’t he?” said Smart, via UGASports.com. “I don’t know why he wouldn’t. Julian’s doing great.”
According to Anthony Dasher of UGASports.com, Georgia athletic director Greg McGarity confirmed Rochester won’t miss any games.
“Julian’s done everything we’ve asked Julian to do,” Smart said. “He’s done a great job for us and we’re excited about where Julian is. I continue to answer that question over and over and over. Julian’s done a great job.”
Rochester is currently listed as a backup defensive end for Georgia. The Bulldogs begin its 2016 campaign on Sept. 3 when the team gets North Carolina at the Georgia Dome.
