5 SEC players being drafted too low in Best Bowl Mania
If you find yourself in a Best Bowl Mania draft, consider picking these players from the SEC. I believe they’re going several spots too low for their potential value this season:
1. Garrett Nussmeier, LSU QB — 21.3 ADP
I think the ADP (average draft position) of 21.3 overall is actually pretty fair for Nussmeier. However, the fact that 3 SEC QBs — LaNorris Sellers (7.4 ADP), Arch Manning (8.1) and John Mateer (17.2) — are going ahead of Nussmeier is something I have an issue with. I understand that all 3 of those guys will probably put up better rushing numbers than the LSU QB, but I’d be willing to predict that none of them will come close to Nussmeier’s passing totals.
The LSU receiving corps is much better than the receivers any of the other QBs ahead of Nussmeier are working with. If you can get Nussmeier at the end of Round 2, that’s a steal.
2. Ahmad Hardy, Mizzou RB — 28.8 ADP
Hardy is going as the RB14 at this point. That’s ridiculous. I’m not saying he’ll be the next Cody Schrader, but he does fit that profile. He’s going to get a ton of work for a Mizzou offense that should put up plenty of points. The offensive line isn’t as good as it was last year with Armand Membou, but Schrader didn’t run behind a great line, either. He just kept the chains moving. That’s what Hardy will do, too.
Plus, having a running QB in Beau Pribula should command some of the opposing defense’s attention, freeing up more room for Hardy.
3. Cayden Lee, Ole Miss WR — 68.2 ADP
OK, this is just flat-out disrespectful. Of all returning SEC receivers, Lee ranks third in yards (874), behind only Aaron Anderson of LSU and Kevin Coleman Jr., who transferred from Mississippi State to Mizzou this offseason. Lee stepped up when Tre Harris was injured for the Rebels and showed he can be a WR1 in the SEC.
Ole Miss is a run-first team under Lane Kiffin, yes, but the Rebels run so many offensive plays that there’s plenty of volume for the receivers, too. Getting Lee at pick 68 is an absolute steal.
4. DJ Lagway, Florida QB — 70.2 ADP
Florida was 6-0 in games Lagway started and finished in 2024. The Gators were leading Georgia when Lagway exited with an injury. Look, I’ll be the first to admit that he needs to finish a lot more than 6 games this year. However, the talent is there when he’s on the field. He throws an elite deep ball. His receiving corps should be solid. He plays behind one of the best offensive lines in the SEC.
If you can get Lagway late in the 6th round of your Best Bowl Mania draft, take him with a smile on your face and don’t look back.
5. KC Concepcion, Texas A&M WR — 92.2 ADP
Concepcion steps into a situation where he will immediately be the top target for Texas A&M QB Marcel Reed. Getting a WR1 on a fringe-Playoff contender at pick 92 is a great value. Yes, Reed needs to improve on his mid-range and deep passes in a big way, but we need to remember he’s only just now entering his first year as the unquestioned starting QB.
Concepcion will be the guy getting a lot of looks early in the season. He should be able to approach, if not exceed, his 2023 numbers (71 catches, 839 yards, 10 touchdowns) from his time at NC State.
Honorable Mention: Eric Singleton Jr., Auburn WR — 138.9 ADP
Cam Coleman (24.6 ADP) is getting a ton of love this offseason, and for good reason. The sophomore is going to be the WR1 for Auburn, no question. But with an ADP of 138.9, Singleton is a major sleeper. Jackson Arnold struggled at Oklahoma last year, yes, but literally his entire receiving corps was injured. If Coleman and Singleton can stay healthy this fall, Arnold will be better and there will be plenty of catches to go around on The Plains.
