Kentucky leads Alabama 17-13 at halftime on Saturday afternoon in Lexington.
The Wildcats took an early 7-0 lead on a Keelon Russell pick-6 and later added an offensive touchdown to get to 14 points. They have largely kept Alabama’s offense at arm’s length in the first half, holding the Tide to just 4.7 yards per play.
Turnovers have been Alabama’s biggest issue — 2 interceptions from Russell in addition to a key fumble in the first half. However, UK also has a massive turnover in the game — a Kenny Minchey interception that was returned for Alabama’s only TD of the first half.
Russell’s third turnover of the half led directly to Kentucky points in the final minute of the second quarter. The Wildcats were able to move into field goal range to make it a 17-13 game going into the half.
