No. 4 Indiana is on upset alert at halftime of its game against Minnesota on Saturday.
The Hoosiers were favored by upwards of 3 touchdowns throughout the week, but trail 10-7 to the Golden Gophers at halftime. Indiana’s once-elite offense has struggled mightily in recent weeks and that trend continued before the break in Week 9.
Quarterback Josh Hoover threw for just 119 yards on 19 pass attempts in the first half and also tossed an interception.
As for IU’s running game, the Hoosiers managed just 48 total rushing yards in the first half. Turbo Richard managed just 19 yards on 6 carries.

Defensively, Indiana was predictably dominant. Minnesota does hold a lead, but the Golden Gophers accomplished very little offensively in the first half. They averaged just 3.2 yards per play and went 2-for-8 on third down.
An Indiana loss in this game would have significant implications for the entire College Football Playoff picture, particularly with regards to the Big Ten. Currently, only Ohio State, Indiana, Northwestern and UCLA have fewer than 2 losses as the sport enters the final Saturday of October.
