An upset may be brewing in Columbia, Missouri. No. 8 Florida is down by double digits to No. 25 Mizzou, 20-10 at halftime.

The Gators have scored 40 or more points in each of their first 4 games, but the UF offense is running into problems at Mizzou. The Tiger defense has managed to contain Jadan Baugh. Florida’s star running back, who had generated some Heisman Trophy hype entering the game, has been held to 12 yards on 9 carries. The Gators had just 43 rushing yards as a team on 14 attempts.

Austin Simmons, a Florida native and one-time Gator commitment before going to Ole Miss and transferring to Mizzou, is carving up the UF defense. Simmons is 16-of-21 passing for 238 yards and both MU touchdowns.

Florida quarterback Aaron Philo, meanwhile, has been up-and-down. He’s 14-of-20 passing for 126 yards with 1 TD.

Mizzou is outgaining Florida 270 yards to 169. The Tigers have gained 15 first downs to Florida’s 9.

Florida had a 15-play, 73-yard opening drive that ended with a field goal after the Gators failed to punch it in from two yards out. Jon Sumrall‘s team has had 1 touchdown drive, with 3 punts and 1 turnover on downs.

Eli Drinkwitz‘s squad has scored on 4 of 6 of its possessions. The Tigers are in position to take advantage of the “middle 8” and extend their lead as they will receive the kick to begin the second half.

Florida at Mizzou is airing on ABC.
