The Jacksonville Jaguars released Tim Tebow on Tuesday during a round of roster cuts.

That must have been a really difficult thing for coach Urban Meyer to do, as Meyer coached Tebow during 2 national championship seasons and a Heisman Trophy campaign in their time at Florida.

On Tuesday, Meyer spoke about the decision, saying it was tough, but was also the right move for the team:

Meyer added that if Tebow couldn’t contribute on special teams, it was always going to be tough to keep him on the roster:

Finally, Meyer said that he believes this is the end of Tebow’s professional career:

Tebow did not record a catch in his only preseason game last week against the Cleveland Browns.
