USC’s coaching search has had several high-profile names mentioned as possible candidates for its opening following the departure of Clay Helton. But at least one Big Ten coach has sent a strong message about his involvement with the Trojans.

Earlier this week, Rutgers coach Greg Schiano’s name surfaced as a possibility to be the head coach at USC now that Helton is out. Schiano was asked about that possibility.

โ€œThereโ€™s nothing to talk about, guys. I promise you,โ€ Schiano said, per 247Sports’ Scarlet Nation. โ€œWeโ€™re just figuring out how to get our first down. That stuff is really not in my wheelhouse. Like, zero.โ€

This is Schiano’s second stint at Rutgers, after he left to coach the Tampa Bay Bucs from 2012-13. He then was Ohio State’s defensive coordinator from 2016-18. Before his first stint at Rutgers, Schiano coached at Miami, the Chicago Bears and Penn State.
