Alex Golesh will have at least one familiar name in his quarterback room at Auburn in 2026.

Locklan Hewlett, a member of Golesh’s 2025 recruiting class at USF in 2025, will transfer to Auburn. Hewlett informed On3’s Hayes Fawcett of his decision on Saturday. He will have four years of eligibility remaining.

Hewlett played in a pair of games at USF as a true freshman, completing seven of his 12 passes. He threw for his first career touchdown in the season opener against Boise State.

While Hewlett marks Alex Golesh‘s first transfer commitment as Tigers head coach, he will have a busy next few weeks as he looks to rebuild the Auburn roster. That’s not to mention a massive need at quarterback. But it looks to be all but a formality that Byrum Brown, who was dynamic for Golesh at USF, will reunite with his head coach on The Plains.

It’s been a tough past number of seasons for the Tigers. They finished with a 5-7 mark, their fifth straight losing season. They have also failed to make a bowl in three of the past four seasons and haven’t won a bowl game since 2018.

But after improving USF’s fortunes, Golesh will look to do the same at Auburn.
