Vanderbilt recently lost defensive line coach Frank Maile to Utah State, where he was given the co-defensive coordinator responsibilities.

It took Commodores coach Derek Mason, who also serves as the team’s defensive coordinator, very little time to find a replacement in former Oklahoma Sooner C.J. Ah You.

Ah You is a former Sooners lineman that earned All-Big 12 honors and played six season in the NFL with the St. Louis Rams.

He was hired by Bob Stoops at his alma mater to be a defensive quality control assistant in 2014.

Here is what Mason had to say about the hire, according to a press release from the Vanderbilt athletic communications staff:

โ€œC.J. brings a lot of energy, enthusiasm, passion and knowledge to the job. Heโ€™s going to be an outstanding addition to our coaching staff,โ€ Vanderbilt Head Coach Derek Mason said. โ€œC.J. is one of those impressive young guys in our profession whose name keeps coming up in conversations. I believe C.J. will be a strong recruiter for our program and great leader for our D-line.โ€

Stoops also Tweeted a congratulatory message on Thursday:
