Vanderbilt strikes back with 60-yard TD connection from Blaze Berlowitz to Junior Sherrill
When quarterback Jared Curtis was ruled out of Saturday’s game between the Vanderbilt Commodores and Georgia Bulldogs, the matchup last one of its compelling storylines. However, nobody on Vandy’s sideline is laying down just because a backup signal-caller is on the field.
Late in the first quarter, former New Mexico State passer Blaze Berlowitz found wide receiver Junior Sherrill for a massive 60-yard touchdown. The Commodores’ quarterback hit Sherrill in stride on a hole shot down the sideline, which allowed the senior wideout to break a tackle and get into the end zone.
Sherrill, a Nashville native, has spent his entire collegiate career with Vanderbilt. He broke out in 2025 with 54 receptions, 784 yards and seven touchdowns, numbers that exceeded the production he provided in his first two seasons (49 receptions, 704 yards, six touchdowns). His scoring toss from Berlowitz was his third touchdown of the 2026 campaign.
Georgia answered the ‘Dores touchdown with a three-play, 75-yard scoring drive. Bulldog running back Chauncey Bowens capped off the possession with a 1-yard touchdown plunge. Despite that play, Georgia — without running back Nate Frazier — has just five rushing yards on its first six carries against Vanderbilt.
