The Carolina Panthers hosted the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday afternoon with plenty of implications.

Sitting at 3-5, Carolina is fighting for its playoff life. Simply put, it may need a victory in this contest in order to have a realistic shot of hanging around.

Former Auburn quarterback Cam Newton tried making a play in the passing game — only to be intercepted by former Tennessee legend Eric Berry:

Akin to a ballerina, the nimble Berry spun, twirled, and virtually danced his way into the end zone. It put the Chiefs within one score of the Panthers early in the fourth quarter.

Not all was lost for Newton. In the first half, the league MVP became the first player in NFL history to pass for 20,000 yards and rush for 3,000 yards within the first six years of a career.

Newton also became the fifth-youngest quarterback (Drew Bledsoe, Peyton Manning, Matthew Stafford, Dan Marino) to pass the 20,000 yard-mark.
