Video: Muschamp tells Treon Harris ‘we are going to throw it more’

The move to switch quarterbacks came more than a week before Florida’s game against Georgia. True freshman Treon Harris supplanted the redshirt junior starting quarterback Jeff Driskel, following several weeks of poor play and no production on offense.
Harris made his first collegiate start yesterday in The World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party, but as one would expect a true freshman quarterback in his first start, the Gators’ offense mostly operated around Harris. The Miami native finished with just six passing attempts as Florida relied heavily on its run game and gained 418 yards on the ground en route to its 38-20 victory over Georgia.

Head coach Will Muschamp sought out Harris after the game in front of the media and assured his new starting quarterback that he shouldn’t get used to throwing only six passes in a game.

Harris will get another chance to prove his throwing ability next week against a struggling Vanderbilt squad. On the season, Harris is 15-of-24 for 290 yards and three passing touchdowns.
Drew Laing will be providing analysis and insight on Florida, Georgia, Missouri and South Carolina.
