Texas A&M and Gator Bowl have already announced that the Aggies will have to drop out of the bowl game, and now Gator Bowl officials are looking for another opponent to face Wake Forest.

Wake Forest Athletics Director John Currie spoke out on the ongoing situation and what could happen next. Interest remains high, including from teams that have already played in a bowl game this season.

“There seems to be quite a few teams that want to play us,” he said.

“There’s been at least four teams that have reached out already about playing.”

“Whatever waivers might need to be in place to enable that to happen are likely to happen.”

Demon Deacons head coach Dave Clawson added:

“The last 48 hours have been a rollercoaster. Our players want to play a bowl game… We certainly want to exhaust all our options at playing the game… in a reasonable time frame”

The Gator Bowl is supposed to be played on Dec. 31.
