Website calls on Florida State fans to donate to help pay Mike Norvell’s buyout

Week 1 and overreactions go together like peanut butter and jelly, but for the fans in Tallahassee, they’re done with just reacting.
Following Florida State’s 27-24 loss to SMU on Monday night which dropped the team to 1-1, the Seminole faithful took matters into their own hands regarding their frustrations with Mike Norvell.
A group of dedicated individuals opted to set up a website and pending fundraiser to support the University’s efforts in potentially paying Norvell’s $51 million buyout. To say the site is detailed is an understatement.
Titled “Save FSU Football,” the web page delves into the many shortcomings of Norvell’s tenure in Tallahassee. Those include his record against rival opponents, recruiting statistics, year-to-year performance and much more.
Then, the authors delve into how the fan base can get involved to assist in ousting the head coach, breaking down the math of how individuals can take a chunk out of the overall buyout. The fundraiser is not yet taking donation at this time, although the financial plan has been thought out:
Fundraising · Coming soon. 250,000 fans × $102 = $25.5 million before fees—half of the reported buyout estimate. Larger contributions would help cover more. No donations or pledges are being accepted.
While many fan bases have employed strategies such as this before, few have come close to the comprehensive approach these fans are taking, and it’s a tangible sign of the frustrations surrounding Florida State.
