Jimbo Fisher was candid following the Texas A&M loss to Mississippi State as he outlined the shortcomings for the Aggies.

The 28-13 loss dropped A&M to 5-3 and 3-2 in the SEC.

“They made the plays that they needed to make to be successful,” Fisher said. “Obviously we didn’t. Started off slow, with some dropped balls, had some pretty good opportunities with some overthrows. And then battled back.”

The problem for the Aggies was giving up big plays by MSU QB Nick Fitzgerald, especially in the passing game.

“Defense gave up some big plays, two on the first drive, then settled down, played a really good half,” he said. “… Defensively, we’ve been playing so well, and they got to moving the football and we gave up a lot of big plays, a lot of them on third down.”

“They were physical in the game, we were physical in the game, but couldn’t run the football,” Fisher said. “We got behind, got one-dimensional. Special teams was solid for the night, though missed a field goal, which was critical in the game.”

“We had opportunities in the game,” he said. “They took advantage of their opportunities, we didn’t make the plays.”
