Whiff of the year: Green Bay Packers clearly don’t pay JK Scott to tackle

Former Alabama punter, who now plays for the Green Bay Packers, is well know for his punting skills. Tackling? Well, that’s another matter.

Jackonsville Jaguars punt returner Keelan Cole pulled a move on Scott during a punt return that Scott hopes he forgets quickly. His teammates may well use it to needle him later. Cole pulled off a 91-yard punt return for a touchdown, and the last attempt at a tackle came from Scott, who appeared to have Cole pinned against a sideline, but a juke from Cole faked Scott just enough to clear the sideline path and for Cole to scamper into the end zone.

That play happened early in the second quarter, but just before halftime, the Packers held a 14-10 lead over the Jaguars.

For the game, Scott had four punts for a 46.3 yard average, with a long of 59 yards and one inside the 20-yard line.

Scott has had a strong start to his career. He was tied for No. 9 in the NFL last season with 29 punts inside the 20, the most by a Packer since Tim Masthay posted 30 in 2012. He also averaged 44.7 yards per punt as a rookie in 2018, the third-best single-season mark.
