Whit Weeks discusses relationship with Lane Kiffin as coach, girlfriend’s father

Whit Weeks has been in the LSU program for 4 years now, so the veteran star linebacker knows exactly what goes into playing in Baton Rouge.
There is built-in pressure to win, with a passionate fan base, and there is also pressure being one of the spotlight players on LSU’s current roster. But Weeks also has another aspect of his life at LSU that makes things, well, a little complicated.
That’s because his girlfriend is Landry Kiffin. Yes, the daughter of Lane Kiffin, who left Ole Miss last season to be the head coach at LSU. When Weeks started dating Lane Kiffin’s daughter, Kiffin was the guy in Oxford, so there was an SEC link there but not a direct link.
Now, there’s a direct link, as Weeks’ head coach is also his girlfriend’s father. It’s an interesting dynamic to say the least, and naturally Weeks was asked about that dynamic during his session with reporters at SEC Media Days on Thursday in Tampa.
Specifically, Weeks was asked how his relationship with Lane Kiffin has been affected, on and off the field.
“It hasn’t affected my relationship with him at all,” Weeks said. “I know that when we go in that building, everyone in our building has the same mindset and the same goals. When you’re in that building, you’re there for work, and we like to have a lot of fun up there, too. But at the end of the day, it’s work.”
Weeks also touched on the times when football isn’t at the forefront.
“Then, whenever we leave (the building), it’s cool he’s my girlfriend’s dad,” Weeks said. “At the end of the day, it is what it is when we’re outside the building, just hanging out, cutting up, like it’s cool. It doesn’t affect anything in the football building.”
Complex relationship aside, when it’s time to play football, Weeks will be doing his best to help Kiffin get LSU to the SEC Championship Game this fall. Here is what the Kalshi market is currently saying about the Tigers’ chances to be the last team standing in the SEC come December:
