The South Carolina Gamecocks have a starting quarterback locked down in Jake Bentley, who will enter his senior season this fall.
However, behind him, things are a little less clear, with Dakereon Joyner and Ryan Hilinski battling it out for the top backup job.
On Monday, coach Will Muschamp spoke with reporters and said there hasn’t been much separation between the two young quarterbacks thus far:
Will Muschamp on Dakereon Joyner and Ryan Hilinski: Some very good things from each, no separation right now.

Hilinski is a true freshman, while Joyner is a redshirt freshman who appeared briefly in one game for the Gamecocks last fall.
As camp goes on, it will be interesting to see how those two progress, as they have different styles of play. Muschamp still has some time before a decision will be needed.
