Earlier tonight on the Gator Hotline Show, Will Muschamp spoke about the late hit Kelvin Taylor took in last weekend’s game by Kentucky defensive tackle Regie Meant.

If you haven’t seen the late hit, here it is:

Muschamp said on the radio program that he did send in the tape of the hit on Taylor to the SEC offices. However, he was unable to comment on exactly what Steve Shaw, the head of SEC officials, said in his review of the hit.

If Meant is flagged for the hit, one could argue he should have even been penalized for targeting and leading with his head, which would have meant an ejection. Instead, the officials ruled no penalty on the play. Taylor got up after the hit with the help of the team trainers, clearly in some pain.

Earlier in the week, Muschamp was asked by the Florida media if he had any comment about if the late hit delivered by Meant should have been flagged by the officials.

“I don’t have any comment,” Muschamp said. “[Kelvin’s] doing good. They got a good shot on him, though, didn’t they?”
