Kentucky coach Will Stein brought a batch of SissyCakes, an apparently delectable delicacy based in Louisville, to the “SEC Now” television crew – which delighted in tasting the miniature SissyCakes live on air.
SissyCakes, which ship nationally and are baked to order, is owned by Stein’s mother Debbie Nutt Stein and his aunt Blakey Nutt Martin. The sisters have been baking the treats for friends and family since 2003 and currently offer nine different flavors – including one called the Kentucky “Nutt” Cake. In addition to the current Kentucky coach, the Nutt sisters also have a prominent college football tie: their brother, Houston, coached at Arkansas and Ole Miss.
Stein is embarking on his first head coaching job, taking on Kentucky after Mark Stoops departed following 13 years with the Wildcats. A former quarterback at Louisville, Stein served as an assistant and Louisville, Texas, UTSA and Oregon – the most recent a three-year stretch with the Ducks under coach Dan Lanning.
Stein and the Wildcats begin the 2026 season at home Sept. 5 against Youngstown State (1 pm ET, SEC Network+) before embarking on SEC play Sept. 12 at home against Alabama (3:30 pm ET, ABC).
