Will Stein calls in to KSR, asks for ‘loudest (crowd) in the history of the world’ vs. Alabama

The Kentucky Wildcats have beaten the Alabama Crimson Tide twice on the football field. Victory No. 1 came back in 1922 (6-0). The second came 40-34, in overtime, in 1997. Head coach Will Stein wants win No. 3 to come this Saturday, and he’s putting on a full-court press to make it happen.
Thursday morning, Stein called into Kentucky Sports Radio and doubled down on his goal for Big Blue Nation to make this weekend’s game, “the loudest in the history of the world.” He even encouraged his fanbase to “scream obscenities” and “sneak a flask in.”
Stein’s era as Kentucky’s coach got off to a strong start. The Wildcats defeated the Youngstown State Penguins 45-13 in Week 1 behind 506 total yards of offense. Quarterback Kenny Minchey threw for 301 yards and 4 touchdowns, distributing the ball to 9 different receivers. The competition ramps up in a big way, though, with the Crimson Tide. Alabama quarterback Keelon Russell led his offense to 487 yards in the Tide’s 48-10 victory over East Carolina.
The nearly 1,000 yards of offense these teams combined for in Week 1 indicate a shootout could be in store. Alabama and Kentucky kick off at 3:30 p.m. E.T. on Saturday (ABC).
