Winners of 13 straight games, the Oakland A’s suddenly have Alabama on their mind

The Oakland A’s normally don’t cross paths with Alabama. But that has changed this weekend as the A’s social media team has developed somewhat of an obsession with the Crimson Tide.
Oakland’s baseball team is the hottest team in baseball these days as they’ve won 13 straight games. That’s a notable accomplishment in and of itself, but it takes on another level when you consider that 17 days ago, the A’s had an MLB-worst record of 1-7.
After they reached a 12-game winning streak, the A’s posted a popular image of a fan holding a poster that reads, “We Want Bama.” As Alabama has gone on to championship success in recent years, the signs have become more common across several sports, and they seem to get more of a laugh the more they are separated from football.
But the phrase took on another meaning when the A’s faced Baltimore Orioles pitcher Wade LeBlanc, who is in his 11th MLB season and played at Alabama. LeBlanc took the loss for the Orioles on Saturday as Oakland prevailed 7-2. He went just 1 2/3 innings, and gave up 4 runs on 6 hits, and fell to 0-1 on the season.
After the game, the A’s tweeted, “WE GOT BAMA.”
