In a season marked by disappointments, Arkansas has arrived at a hard-to-fathom stat. The Razorbacks are set to start five different quarterbacks as they prepare for Missouri this afternoon.

Nikki Chavanelle of Hawg Beat reported that “former walk-on QB Jack Lindsey is taking his pregame snap reps with Ty Clary as he’s due to make his first start today in War Memorial.”

The decision comes after K.J. Jefferson suffered a hard hit that resulted in a concussion last week at LSU. Nick Starkel was also in concussion protocol this week. Lindsey was the third QB who played against LSU last week.

Jefferson was 7-for-14 passing for 105 yards, Lindsey was 3-for-4 passing for 51 yards and a TD and Starkel was 3-for-10 for 34 passing yards.

Earlier this week, interim coach Barry Lunney was asked about starting a fifth quarterback this season.

โ€œObviously, some of that has been a reflection of the status of our team,โ€ Lunney said at a Monday press conference. โ€œItโ€™s kind of been a microcosm of that. Weโ€™ve been inconsistent. All those guys have shown flashes when theyโ€™ve gotten their opportunity. You could validate their opportunity to start with some of the things theyโ€™ve done with the opportunities theyโ€™ve been given.โ€

Lunney added that Lindsey is a “football junkie” and has a “high football IQ.”
