Zahir Mathis, top-50 2025 prospect, names 3 SEC options in top 5

Zahir Mathis has already picked up 26 scholarship offers over a year out from signing. On Tuesday, Mathis narrowed the focus of his recruitment to 5 teams, including 3 SEC options.
South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas made the cut for the elite edge defender from Philadelphia. Mathis is also currently considering Florida State and Ohio State.

A standout of Imhotep Institute, Mathis is listed as measuring 6-6 and 225 pounds. On the 247Sports Composite, Mathis is rated 4-stars, the No. 1 player in the state of Pennsylvania, No. 5 edge defender and No. 41 prospect overall in the Class of 2025.
Mathis had a top 12 in August that also included Alabama, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Penn State, Texas A&M and USC. Texas only recently extended a scholarship offer.

Tennessee has been recruiting Mathis for over a year. South Carolina got him on campus for a visit in June.
